Working together to meet common objectives and goals

Planning and problem-solving methods are two additional elements that a team will need to develop in resolving conflicts as they arise. The planning process allows team members to assign tasks, set goals, and define responsibilities and expectations of the group. The problem-solving process applies to managing the internal and external influences on the team (Thompson et al. 154). Although the problem-solving process closely relates to goal setting, which is an important purpose for a team, the following steps should to be followed to achieve the correct solutions (154). " Identify the problem. " Select a problem. " Analyze the problem. " Generate/Evaluate possible solutions. " Select a solution. " Recommend a solution. " Decide on a solution. " Implement a solution. " Follow up and evaluate the results. As the above steps outline how to solve conflicts effectively, our team will need investigative, decision-making and interpersonal skills to complete the tasks successfully (155 - 157).
